Enabling WordPress for Mobile Browsers

I’ve installed Alex King’s WordPress Mobile Edition plugin to enable our content to be viewed on mobile browsers.  To test it out, I viewed the site from my Samsung Blackjack phone, andit works great!  Mobile browsers are gaining more and more market share every day, so this plugin is an easy way to reach users on the go.

Mobilize your site with winksite.com

According to winksite, there are 2.5 billion people in the world with mobile phones.  winksite.com lets you reach this audience by mobilizing your online community.  Registration is free and you can “wink” up to 5 sites.  The list of content you can “wink-ify” is quite extensive, including RSS feeds, forums, journals, chat rooms, surveys, and guest books.  Much of the mobile content is also available via RSS feeds from winksite.com, allowing you to add features like “what are our mobile users chatting about?” or “who is online (mobile)” sections to your website.  Winksite provides an online simulation of your mobile site in case your users want to test it out before hitting it from their phones.
